These Bureaus also sell Indrail passes which enable tourists to travel wherever he likes, whenever he likes and whichever trains he likes within the validity period. Indrail pass however, does not guaranty reserved accommodation. The fares of Indrail Passes are in US dollars.


The trains running from one city to another have coaches starting from the first class to the unreserved category. The ones that are recommended for extremely comfortable travel are the first class, A/C class, second class A/C and Chair Car A/C. Second-class sleeper and the unreserved coaches should be your option if you want to truly experience the rural India.


The first class, A/C class, Chair car A/C and second class A/C are the most comfortable coaches and are highly recommendable in terms of safety. These coaches / compartment are with a sleeper birth (Bed roll with pillow, bed sheet, blanket, napkin provided by the railway staff) fully air conditioned.


Most of the Indian long distance trains offer meals on the board. With an exception of However the food quality in other trains is not up to mark, compared to that of super fast trains and special train services. Most passengers bring food packed from their homes to avoid eating the meals provided on train. The safest bet is to eat packaged food from stations.
